I dried my hands quickly and walked briskly to the front to see Zuriel in a panicked state. "What is it?" I came around and checked if he was hurt.

Zuriel ran over to her, hugging her. "I thought you were gone." He whispered, a tear falling.

Zuriel continued to hug her for a moment, then he sighed. "What were you doing? I can help." He said, smiling as he looked up at her.

I grinned. "Well, I was just doing the dishes, you can dry them off for me?" I lead him to the part behind the counter that cornered off and had a large double sink with dishes on either side.

Zuriel followed her, grabbing a towel. He began drying off the dishes, humming a little song his mother used to sing while hunting.

"So, any brothers or sisters?" I asked him. I enjoyed his humming.

Zuriel shook his head. "Mommy and daddy seemed confused about me, so they didn't have anymore kids, or at least that's what I assumed." He said, still humming and smiling.

"Confused?" I asked. "How were they confused?" I put a clean dish in the drying rack for him to wipe.

Zuriel takes the dish and drys it off. "I don't know. We were wood elves, but I never got cold. Plus I can make things out of ice and snow. They couldn't." He said, putting the dish on the counter as he finished drying it.

"Then maybe you're a... snow elf, I think is what they call 'em." I put another dish on the rack.

Zuriel took the dish and dried it off. "But my mommy and daddy were wood elves. How could I be a snow elf?" He asked, putting the dish near the other one.

I thought about it for a second, but nothing came to mind for a conclusion. "I don't know...." Then I though of some things I probably shouldn't say to him. "Well, you're you. That's all that matters." I smiled down at him.

Zuriel smiled brightly. "Yep. I'm a wood elf and you are a human. Life is the way it is." He said happily, looking up at her.

I stared down at him, not expecting someone so young to say something like that. "I suppose so." I started to hums quietly so I wouldn't disturb his.

Zuriel waited patiently for her to hand him another dish. He continued to hum and bounced on his feet.

I handed him another dish. It was like that for a while, just passing on dishes and humming. "Are you okay with living on your own?" I asked.

Zuriel kept drying and stacking the dishes. "I'd prefer not to, but I have no choice." He said, looking a little sad.

Zuriel shook his head. "I have no one to live with." He said, taking the dish and drying it off.

I wasn't sure if he would go for it but I still asked, "how about crashing at my place?" I handed him another dish.

Zuriel looked up at her, startled. He took the dish, then starting thinking as he dried it. He put it on the stack. "Sure. That'd be fun. I'll work." He said, smiling at her.

"Work here as my replacement? I could come over in my spare time." I smiled at him and handed him another dish.

Zuriel shook his head. "No, if it's too far for you it's too far for me. But I can work around your house, or run errands." He said, taking the dish. He dried it and put it on the stack.

I thought about it and nodded. Having an extra hand around the house would be nice. And maybe Eden wont be so lonely at home. "I warn you, it's a bit small." I handed him the last dish and washed my hands.
