Walking the forest

Jake blushed a little, surprised. He looked at her for a moment, then began gently petting her head, scratching behind her ears.

My ear twitches and I nuzzle up against him. I mew softly as I sit there. I had never been petted like this.

Jake continued to pet her and purr, feeling content in the warm sun with her. He made sure he was gentle, and moved slightly to make her more comfortable.

His petting had triggered something inside of me and I lost control. I close my eyes and next thing I know, I am kissing Jake. I realize what I just did and blush a deep red out of embarrassment. I curl up and try to hide my face.

Jake's purring stopped as she kissed him. When she curled back up he went back to petting her. "It's alright. I understand. Don't be embarrassed." He said calmly, trying to comfort her. He continued petting her, but it was a little gentler.

"No I don't know what happened. I've never done that before." I bury my face and refuse to come out.

Jake continued to pet her comfortingly. "It's ok. The reason doesn't matter to me. I forgive you. I honestly didn't mind it. I couldn't be mad at you." He explained, trying to help her. He felt bad, he wanted her to be happy.

"N-no it's not right to kiss people if they don't want you to. Especially people you just met." I was on the verge of tears. I was too embarrassed to look at him. I was also sad because I liked it but he doesn't want me to.

Jake sighed, still petting her. "I've seen a lot worse happen in that city. Trust me, I honestly didn't mind it. I'm just used to weird stares where I come from, so I didn't expect it. I never said I didn't want to or want to, because it simply didn't cross my mind." He said, worried. He didn't want her to be sad anymore.

"You said you wanted to be just friends. Nothing more. It wasn't right to kiss you like that." I hug my tail close.

Jake scratched behind her ear. "I said that because I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. While I'm not sure I'm ready for a girlfriend with all the traveling I do, I can't control my heart. Some things just happen." He said softly.

I tilt my head up so only my eyes were showing. I stare up at him with a tear secretly running down my cheek. I start to sniffle. "Y-you sure?"

Jake smiled gently, still scratching her ear gently. "I'm sure." He purred, eyes soft.

I lay my head on Jake's chest while still trying to hide my face. My face, wet with tears, leaves a wet mark on his shirt. I close my eyes and purr softly.

Jake continued to pet her, feeling wetness on his shirt. "Are you crying?" He asked gently, using one arm to hug her softly.

"N-no." I wipe my eyes and smile at his hug. I relax as I listen to the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the trees. The only thing that interupts this is the purring coming from the two of us.

Jake wiped her face with his sleeve. "Nope, I guess I was mistaken." He purred, petting her head with one hand and hugging her with the other. His ears twitched as he heard the birds, but he wasn't that interested in them. He hunted bigger game, like deer and rabbits.

I wrap my arm around him, enjoying every second of this. My purring grows louder and my tail swings happily in the air. My ear twitches and I mew softly. I yawn as the peaceful world around us slowly begins to lull me to sleep.

Jake purrs with her, petting her softly and hugging her gently. He thought her mew was cute, and noticed her falling asleep. He smiled again, thinking she was adorable. He let her fall asleep if she wanted to.

I fall asleep. I dream of playing with Jake all day long. I start to mew in my sleep and kick my legs like I'm running.

Jake purred, still petting her. "You're so cute." He whispered softly, looking at her gently. He adjusted her so she could kick her legs freely, as he could see from her face that it was a good dream.

My ear twitches. I start to mumble in my sleep. "Jake.... Cute.... Play...." Suddenly my dream changes. I see myself as a little girl. I start to recognize where I am. I am back with the bad people. I see them using me. I try to scream but nothing comes out. I cannot move. In reality I start to cry out. "Stop it!... Leave her alone!"

Jake smiled when she said his name, but when she said stop it, leave her alone, he knew she was having a bad dream. "Rya! Rya! I'm right here to protect you! Snap out of it!" He said, shaking her. He was worried, and his face looked like he was scared.

I stand there in the dream watching the bad men using her as a slave. I start to cry because I can do nothing to stop it. I hear my younger self crying for help. In the distance, I hear a voice calling out to me. I realize it as Jake's voice. I try to call out for him but all that comes out is a whisper. In reality I start kicking and screaming. "Jake! Jake, help me! Jake please!"

Jake shook her harder. "Rya! Rya! Come back to me! I'm right here! Come back, I'll protect you! Please!" He yelled, then nipped her ear, trying to wake her up. He shook her again.
